Vintage Maitland Smith Enameled Box
Wonderful high-end lidded box by Maitland Smith, presented in a hexagon shape. This wooden box has been painted in a lacquer and enamel paint to give it the effect of stone inlay. Sitting the top, the lid is a star shaped brass knob. Speckles of pea green, copper, deep brown, black and cream decorate the box. This is a perfect place to hide away the television, remote, or to drop your keys into on an entryway table. It looks lovely stacked on books too
8.25 inches wide by 9.5 inches deep by 3 inches tall.
There are some imperfections to the box most notably a chip to the wood on the inside lip. This is covered when the lid is on, but we do want to note that. Scuffs and chip to the lacquer around the rim of the base, likely from when the lid was placed on and off of the box. There is some splitting to the lacquer paint at the corners of the lid, it doesn’t cause any split into the overall box, and it is on the inside of the lid. Minor scuffs to the paint at some of the corners likely from handling.
