Set of Twelve (12) c1900 Coalport 8 1/8” Indian Tree Pattern Plates
Antique set of 12 plates by Coalport of England. Presented in a very light buttery yellow background. Each plate has a central pattern of Indian tree. In the center a square planter provides a spot for a blooming branch of royal blue, pink, vibrant, red, and green leaves. under the soft yellow glaze are raised relief of floral blooms around the rim. This provides an additional detail to these very old plates. Two of the plates have different color blooms than the other 10, while the pattern remains the same.
Measures 8 1/8” inches in diameter
Visible crazing on each plate, each plate has 10 points on the underside where the plates would have rusted during the drying process, on the spots there is no glaze. There is minor variation in the color plate to plate due to age.
Hallmark on plates came into use in 1891.
