Pair of Mid Century Southeast Asian Woven Split Bamboo Table Lamp
Stunning pair of mid century lamps, previously woven split bamboo baskets that may predate age of lamp, these gorgeous baskets were converted to a lamp around 1950s. The baskets likely originated in Southeast Asia (we believe Philippines). large scale lidded style, with a bamboo and wood structured base , they have a great sculptural bulbous shape. Herringbone pattern around the sides with a braided Reed rope added trim detail. The surface has a gorgeous patinated look.
Condition: Great vintage condition, no damage to woven basketry. Around the lidded top of one, mild pulling of the bentwood. Minor dust may be present in between weaving.
Harps are fixed harps and original to lamp. They are affixed under the socket. Removal would require disassembly of lamp should you want to change harp. Finials are round wood balls likely original, finial balls show scuffs and a fissure in wood on one.
Lamps have been rewired. Plug is original. One socket has been replaced and differs from other socket (one meta and one plastic)
Powers on, standard US bulb and cord, 250 V, 250 W, power switch is on the socket, cord is in good condition and has been recently rewired. Plug is original.
